What are most common headaches of T.V.L.  Senior High School Teacher?
(Some superiors refuse understand these problems and act like they don’t exist.)

The first batch of Senior High School students will graduate this April 2018.  We teachers have done everything that we can to provide them the knowledge and skills they need to learn in Senior High School. Still, there’s a question in my mind. Are they really ready for the next step in their life?
I am one of the pioneer teachers in Senior High School in SY 2016-2017. I teach T.V.L Home Economics which includes courses like Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Food and Beverages NC II, Food and Beverages NC II, Housekeeping NC II and Beauty Care Nail Care NC II.
On the first day of school I checked the availability of the tools and equipment needed for the courses offered. To my surprise, I discovered that the school doesn’t have any tools/equipment for the offered courses.
That’s just one of the many problems I have because as months went by I discovered more and more problems.

Here are some of the headaches in Senior High School as a T.V.L teacher:
1. The school doesn’t have any of the TESDA training requirements such as tools and equipment, learning area and practicum area.

2.  Teachers are not given enough time to get training to update their knowledge and skills for all the courses they are teaching.

3.   T.V.L teachers are given extra teaching loads in Academic Track.

4.     The number of students for one section is too big for the available tools and equipment.

5.       Students are not pre assessed during enrollment and there is no set requirements for enrollment in H.E. As a result, students who didn’t take the prerequisite subjects are left behind. Students are having a hard time in communicating since communication skill is very important in Home Economics which is under Tourism Sector.

6.       Parents are not aware of the possible expenses of their children in choosing T.V.L –Home Economics courses

7.       Class schedules change as often as we change undies!

8.       The allotted time for T.V.L class is ridiculously shorter than necessary.

9.       There are no student modules and teacher manuals provided.

10.   There are just too many unimportant school activities, programs etc. that disrupt classes leading to poor knowledge acquisition of the students.
